James Roger Taylor was born on May 14, 1962 in Bryan, Texas to the late Pastor H.R. Taylor and Jewel Ann Taylor. On Sunday, September 27, 2026 James answered the Lord’s call and departed this earthly life.

James was educated in the Bryan Independent School District. Throughout
his life, he was known for the things that brought him great joy – his family,
fishing, football and above all, his faith in God. James enjoyed cheering for both the San Francisco 49ers and Dallas Cowboys. But greater than any earthly pastime was his love for the Lord.
James absolutely loved the Lord, and his faith remained an important part of
his life. His Christian foundation was nurtured under the tutelage of his father, Pastor H.R. Taylor. James attended both Little Flock Baptist Church and Trinity Baptist Church in Hearne, Texas. Later he united with Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Benchley, Texas, where he worshipped under his brother, Eddie L. Taylor. James was a man who treasured family. The memories he created, the laughter he shared, and love he gave will remain in hearts of those who
knew and loved him.

James was preceded in death by his parents, Pastor H.R. Taylor and Jewel
Ann Taylor; his grandparents; his oldest son, James Roger Taylor, Jr.; his
sisters, Wanda Jackson, Diann Taylor and Carolyn Taylor; and his brother,
John Taylor. He leaves to cherish his loving memory, his son, Robert Walker Taylor;
sisters, Shirley Davis, Brenda Crawford, Lillian Thurman, Marilyn Chambers (Billy), Margaret Caldwell, and Bessie Taylor; brothers, Rickey Harris (Sharee), Raymond Taylor, Pastor Eddie Taylor, Gary Taylor, along with a host of other relatives, church family and dear friends.
Although James’ earthly journey has ended, those who loved him can find comfort in knowing that the faith he held so dearly has carried him home. His presence will be deeply missed, but his memory, his love for family and his unwavering love for the Lord will forever remain.
