James Thomas Giddings Sr. (JG), 40, passed away on October 5, 2026, in Katy, Texas. James was born on July 12, 1986, in Marlin, Texas, to Charlie V. And Ellen Giddings. He spent his formative years in his hometown and was educated through the Marlin Independent School District.
A devoted member of South Union Missionary Baptist Church, where he played the drums, sung in the choir, and served as an usher. James found joy and purpose in his family, beliefs, and community. His life was marked by a deep love for his family and a generous spirit that touched everyone around him. Known for always wearing a smile and offering help to those in need, James lived with compassion and grace. He never met a stranger and everyone had a special place in his heart.
James was a beloved husband to his wife Susan, and father to his sons James Jr., Cassius, and Vincent. Brother to Cynthia Stewart, Kathy Crear (Michael), Cherry Gonzales (Johnny), Carolyn Coleman, Chantal Giddings, Michael Giddings (Gina), Darryl Sledge (Ann) and Clifton Hopwood. And a host of nieces and nephews. James cherished spending time with his family, Union Pacific colleagues and flag football teammates.
James was preceded in death by his father Charlie V Giddings Sr., sisters Tracy Giddings, Melanie Giddings, Charolette Burrell and Sheila Jones King, and brothers Eric Giddings and Charlie Giddings Jr. As well as his grandmothers, grandfathers, uncles, nephews and cousins. Though they have gone before him, their memories remained close to James’s heart throughout his life.
His legacy as a loving son, husband, father, uncle, brother and friend will continue to live on through those who knew and loved him. He will be remembered not only for the care he gave but also for the strength he showed throughout life’s challenges.
As we say goodbye to James, we find comfort in knowing and believing that God takes the best into His care!
