Obituary

Ronald Wayne “Worrk” Durens was born on October 29, 1954 in Houston,
Texas to the union of Robert Henry and Doris Marie Durens.
Wayne graduated from Galena Park High School in 1972.
Wayne was no stranger to hard work, and worked several jobs throughout
his life. He worked at Bennigan’s Restaurant as a fry cook and a short
order cook. He worked with Mr. Bigg’s fixing tires. He also had a career
with the City of Bryan in Waste Disposal Services. Wayne drove trucks for
his late father, Robert Durens, and his brother, Tommy Durens. Later, he
started working at the family restaurant, Shannon’s, as a short order cook.
He touched people in many ways with his beautiful smile, compassionate
heart, and a wiliness to help others.
Wayne is well known for several catch phrases such as: “worrk y’all,”
“worrk scally,” “worrk jolly,” “get out my min,“ “step on the gas,” “you
want some of that pimp juice (fat back),” “scallywag,” “stone cold
scallywag,” “scallywag maggot,” “shut up star,” “talk yo $@%# star,”
“baby star,” “cut throat mofo,” “test tube baby,” and “jolly green.”
He loved his family very much. One selfless and special thing about
Wayne’s love for his family, was when he ignored all warning signs that
he was sick, so that he could continue to take care of our dear mother, day
and night. Later to find out he had stage 3 cancer of the throat, that spread
to both of his lungs. As he faced cancer, he NEVER complained. Every
day he was determined to be happy, encouraging, and have a positive
attitude to fight for his life.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Henry and Doris
Marie Durens, and his oldest sister, Deborah L. Durens (The Queen Bee).
Wayne leaves to cherish his memory sister, Deana Willis of Houston,
Texas, brother, Tommy Durens of Bryan, Texas, baby sister, Pamela
Durens of Pflugerville, Texas and sister-in-law Shonta Durens of Bryan,
Texas
He also leaves to cherish his memory a host of nieces, nephews, cousins
and friends. Special Thanks to cousin Allen Jefferson for always being
there when we need him.
