Rev. Darrell Ray Grear

Born November 13,1960 at 1:00 a.m., I entered the world, born to my mother, Lillian Jean Grear, and my far ther James Clark Davis, Jr, but I was raised by my daddy Robert Lonnie Newman.

I confessed the love of my LORD and savior and JesusChrist at an early age and was baptized at Shiloh Baptist church. I was ordained as a minister in 1989. I was an
active minister in the Central District Association and the Youth Dept. I pastored at Mount Calvary MBC and St. Luke MBC. I was a servant all over the Brazos Valley and other surrounding counties.

I attended Bryan Public schools and graduated from Bryan High School in 1979. Some folks said I was a walking Historical factor, If you told me your FOLKS last
name, I usually knew something about them, maybe some-thing you didn’t know. In other words, I could break your
family tree down for you. I met and knew folks from all aspects of Life. I enlisted in the United States Army and I served my country until 1985.

I was very involved in politics, and I ran for City Counsel, Justice of Peace and County Commissioner. I was an active member in the Democratic and Libertarian Party.

I was married to Chong Robinson, and to this union was born my two beautiful daughters, MySong Grear and Lorraine Grear. Then came my only son Miles Johnathan Andrew Grear, who was born to me and his mother Evette M.
Williams. I then married Mary Lee Robinson William Grear, and then on to Gloria Booker Grear Green. That’s
the end of that chapter.

On the afternoon of April 25, 2019 at 3:15p.m., the LORD needed me, another angel, so he said come home my beauti-
ful child and I slipped away right into his arms. He said this is the end of your earthly home, Come on to the begin-
ning of your heavenly home. Now I am so” HAPPY”.

Those that went home before me, I will be singing and they will welcome me home, my” Madear”, Loraine Grear;
my grandfather, Lemuel Grear Sr.; my Aunt Patsy Ann Grear Jackson, Aunt Elza Mae Grear Burton, and, just all
those that went home to be with the LORD before me.

I leave my legacy of strength and love for my family. I want my love to pass on to my two daughters, one son, mother, Four grandsons, Victor Grear-Brazzell, Corey Lewis Devin Lewis, and Cordai Lewis; two granddaughters, Jireh`Nay Grear-Brazzell and Cortlynn Lewis; two Uncles,
Lemuel Charles, Jr. (ELNORA “Van”), and Milton Fred Grear; Aunt Linda Rose Grear (William); two sisters, Charlette Davis and Joycelyn Evette Jefferson; five Step-sons,
three step-daughters and my many cousins and other relatives and my many friends from all over the world.

Last but not least, my special family/friends; Karen Nelson “Kat”, Michael Nelson “Mike”, Betty Joyce, Rev.
Lawrence Hicks, Rev. Thomas Evans and Arlendra Williams.

Visitation will be Thursday May 2, 2019 from 10am to 6pm in the chapel of Daniel and Son funeral home.

Funeral services will be held on Friday May 3, 2019 at 12 noon at Greater Tabernacle Baptist church located at 907 Florida street Bryan, Tx.

To Loraine, MySong and Ms. Lillian Jean Drear,

Words can not express our feelings for your loss. Prayer is the key. To lose a Father and a Son is a heavy bearden to bear, but our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ will see you through. Keep the Faith.

    Our Love Forever

  2. Delbert Scott says:

Peace and much love to entire Grear family. Darrell Ray was a good friend to my family, we grew up together, and he showed a lot love to my late mother Opal Jewel Turner Jackson. We often discuss and debating on many worldly issues concerning our community, he will surely be missed. Rest in Glory My Brother!
