Obituary

Maggie Lee Richmond was born June 22, 1929, to the late James Richmond, Sr. and Zula Bell Richmond in Caldwell, Texas.She confessed her faith in Jesus Christ as her personal Savior at an early age and joined Galilee Missionary Baptist Church, where she was a very faithful and active member for many years until her health failed. She served as Junior and Senior Mission President, Sunday School Teacher, Superintendent of Sunday School, sang in the choir, and volunteered wherever needed in the church.Maggie Lee graduated from Freeman High School in Caldwell, Texas, Class of 1947. Being an exceptional athlete at Freeman High, she was talented in basketball. She also played the drums in the band. After high school, she began her work life. Along the way she was employed at Beverly Enterprise where she retired in 1985.She married Leo Young, Sr. who preceded her in death. She will be most remembered for her love of watching any type of sports and spending time with her children, grandchildren, family and friends.On Friday, December 24, 2021, Maggie Lee Young peacefully passed from this world to a place of eternal life with her youngest daughter at her side.She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo Young, Sr.; her parents, James Richmond, Sr. and Zula Bell Lucas Richmond Tolbert, twelve siblings, James Richmond, Jr., Joe Willie Richmond, Edna Mae Jones, Roberta Pinkard, Jack Orlean Tolbert, Emma Jean Nutall, Oscar Tolbert, Jr., Willie L. Tolbert, James Robert Lucas, Robert Lee Lucas, Bessie Ruth Smith, and Clarence Richmond, and granddaughter, Adrian Reed.Maggie Lee leaves cherished memories to: her son, Leo Young, Jr. (Laura) of Bryan, Texas, Paula Person (Walter) of Caldwell, Texas, and Yolonda Turner (Leon) of North Richland Hills, Texas; four grandchildren, David Roberson (Detra), Dametria Kendrick (Steve), Bridgette Young, and Robert Kyle Person all of Bryan, Texas; a host of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Iness Tolbert and Zula Ellis both of Caldwell, Texas, and Helen Dotson of Temple, Texas, niece, Jerline Parker who was raised alongside the siblings; brother-in-law, Reginald Smith; nieces, nephews, and a host of extended family and friends
