Robert Jones Jr. was born on April 8, 1939 to the late Robert and Mazarine Jones, Sr. in Bryan, Texas. He was the third of eleven children. Robert confessed Christ at an early age and was baptized by the late Rev. R. W. Wheaton of the Galilee Baptist Church. He attended and graduated from the Bryan Public Schools. Upon graduation, he enlisted into the U. S. Army. Upon his discharge and returning home, he met “the love of his life”, Erma Young and later united in Wedded bliss on October 8, 1960.

They later moved to Houston, Texas and to this union, six children were born. He united with the New Gate Fellowship United Methodist Church and was a faithful member. He remained married for 60 years until his demise. On January 10, 2021, amongst family, God saw fit to retire one of “His Best Soldiers” and beckoned him home. He had worked 25 years for Ingersoll-Rand and 15 years for Tidewater of Houston. He was a devoted husband, father, grand, great grandfather and friend. He was an avid dancer and loved to seek his favorite “swing partner”, Fayeola, whenever he visited home. He loved family and called his brothers and sisters daily to check on them—always surrounded by love and family. He had an humble soul and spirit that left a legacy to forever linger. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Emmitt White and two sisters, Edna and Viora Jones.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Erma; three daughters, April, Sheila and Linda; three sons, Robert (Anné), David (Lillie) and Reggie (Stephanie) of Houston; four sisters, Patricia Pickard, Shirley Jones, Mazarine Feldon, all of Houston, TX, Fayeola Jones Johnson of Bryan, Tx; three brothers, Ernest White, Zak Jones (Chrystine), both of Houston, TX, and Henry Jones of Crosby, TX; 35 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends
