Homegoing Celebration for Herbert Hubert, Jr.

Obituary

Herbert Franklin Hubert, Jr. was born March 29, 1943. He was the only child
to the union of Mary Ellen Williams and Herbert F. Hubert, Sr.
Herbert was a jack of all trades! He loved participating in car shows winning,
first place in nearly all of them. He was a part of the low-riding groups “Royal
Touch” and “La Compania.
” He participated in parades; you could see him
coming from afar driving that bright orange chevy, while playing “All my
f riend s know th e l ow rid er” along with a stuffed Scooby Doo dog in the front
seat. You would often see him during the Halloween season driving around
with his friend “Death” in the front seat (his skeleton) in which no matter
who got in the car you would have to get in the back seat because “Death”
was not moving!!!
Herbert loved the cartoon character “Scooby Doo” hence his nickname, he
was known for being called “Uncle Scooby” by many.
Herbert attended Miracle Temple COGIC, Saviors Temple COGIC, and
Assemblage of Praise COGIC, which he served as a faithful Deacon under the
leadership of Bishop Calvin Blake. He accepted Christ at an early age and
lived faithfully according to scripture. He also attended E.A. Kemp High
School in which he graduated from in 1962. He then married his high school
sweetheart, Marva M. Finley on December 12, 1964. To their union four
children were born, Anthony DeWayne Hubert, Tammye Marie Hubert,
Mary Hubert, and Martha Hubert-Bazy. Herbert went on to work for Alcoa
Inc. in which he worked for 30 plus years before retiring. He also worked for
Montgomery Ward for several years.
Herbert loved the Lord and Gosple music, especially Gospel Quartet, in
which he acquainted himself with a group formerly known as the “Reed
Brothers” now known as the Legendary Zion Jubilees, in which he traveled
with for well over 30 years until their retirement in 2018 in which they had
marked over 60 years of singing. He was known as the CD salesman for the
group and no one could sell a CD or DVD tape like ole Scooby Doo.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Mary and Herbert
Hubert, Sr., his daughter, Tammye M. Hubert; 3 brothers, Tommy Lee
Carlli, William Dan Carlli, and Bobby Ray Jones; 2 grandchildren, Malik and
Malika Foster; and 2 great-grandchildren.
