Home Going Celebration for Mrs.Ella Newton Jackson
A Life Well Lived
On Friday, July 13, 1928, in Bryan, Texas, Ella Mae Newton was born to
George and Mary Newton. Ella was the fourth of seven children.
She accepted Christ at an early age at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Bryan,
Texas. Ella attended McMillan School and Fairview Middle and High Schools, where
she graduated in 1946. Upon graduation, Ella moved to Austin, Texas, where she
attended Madam C. J. Walker Beauty School. After graduation, she returned to Bryan
and started working in her profession as a beautician.
On August 6, 1950, Ella married Willie Green and, to their union, three children
were born: Arthur Leonard and Beverly and Lawrence “Larry” Green. Then, on April
19, 1961, Ella married William Jackson and, to their union, one child was born:
Felicia Jackson.
Ella was a God-fearing woman who love her family and left a legacy of love when
she departed this life at ninety-four years old on Tuesday, the 22nd day of November,
2022, at home with her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and
Mary Newton; her husband, William Jackson; brothers, Robert and Gloster Newton;
and sisters, Laura Hamilton and Nancy Murphy.
She leaves to cherish her memories and live out her legacy: her four children, Arthur
Leonard Green and Beverly Lewis Sims of Bryan, Texas, Lawrence “Larry”(Debra)
of Arlington, Texas, and Felicia (Kenneth) Middleton of Austin, Texas; eleven
grandchildren, Margo Morris of Houston, Texas, Euketa Oliver of Chula Vista, CA,
Antoinette Lewis of Hutto, Texas, Carla and Michael Lewis of Bryan, Texas, Arthur
Green of Sacramento, California, Artrell Woods of Carrollton, Texas, Christopher
Gibbs and Kennedy Middleton of Houston, Texas, Malcom Gibbs of Austin, Texas,
and Lauren Green of Arlington, Texas; ten great-grandchildren, Matthew, Caleb and
Joshua Irvin of Houston, Texas, A.J. Alexander and Aziyah Green of Sacramento,
California, Breonne Sanders of Houston, Texas, Brenden Sanders of North Newton,
Kansas, Jayden Lewis of Bryan, Texas, and Aiden and Amari Woods of Carrollton,
Texas; one sister, Doris Chambers of Denver, Colorado; one brother, Curtis Newton
of Bryan, Texas; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives. and friends.
