Obituary

On May 13, 1931, Cleo Nelson Jefferson was born to the late Peter and Ella Nelson of
Bryan, Texas. She also lived and attended school there. She then met and married the
love of her life, Mr. Lamar Jefferson on May 28, 1950 where they resided in
Madisonville, Texas. Together they raised six children: James Lee Jefferson; Lillian Nell
McDaniel; JoAnn McCoy; Elouise Jefferson; LaDon Jefferson, and Lisa Jefferson Hall.
She accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and became a member of Pool Chapel
Missionary Baptist Church until her health failed her. Mrs. Jefferson was a Nurse’s Aide
at Madisonville Hospital, A Licensed Beautician and Cosmetologist, and most
importantly a Homemaker where she loved to cook, be a nurturer and took great pride in
taking care of and spending time with her family.
She lived out her years with her husband until he was called to glory in 2011, where she
then resided with her devoted daughter, Lisa Jefferson Hall and husband until The Lord
called her home.
She joins in death, her parents; A Brother, W.Z. Nelson; Three Sisters: Jessie M. Jackson,

Elnora Jackson, and Nellie Wright; A Daughter, Lillian Nell McDaniel; Two Grand-
daughters: Bridgette Jefferson and Morniqua Dawkins; Two Grandsons: RaShawn

Johnson and Cedrick Jefferson; Great Grandson: Christopher Eddington.
She leaves to mourn her passing; One surviving sibling; a sister: Mrs. Sally Davis; Five
children: James Lee Jefferson (Mamie), Natchitoches, LA; JoAnn McCoy, Bryan, Texas;
Elouise Jefferson, Waco, Texas; LaDon Jefferson (Ruby), Houston, Texas; Lisa Jefferson

Hall (Craig), Madisonville, Texas, 16 Grandchildren; 35 Great-grandchildren, 23 Great-
great-grandchildren; and a host of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, Other Relative and Friends.
