Obituary

On May 9, 1955, a beautiful bouncy boy was born
to Melvin Burns Young and Julius Young, Sr.
They named him James Ivory (Man).
At an early age, James confessed his love for Jesus
Christ and was baptized at Jerusalem Baptist
Church in Bryan, Texas. He continued his faith in
Christ while living in Houston, Texas and
attended several churches.

He attended Snook Public Independent School where he graduated in As a student he played basketball and led the team to their fourth
championship. He furthered his education at Texas A&M University,
Texas Agricultural Experiment Station, and studied cattle breeding. He
also had experience in artificial insemination of cattle on the farm.
James had a very sweet personality and was kind to everyone. He was
debonair, suave, sophisticated, confident, charming, well-dressed, and
sometimes could be thought of being flamboyant. He had a way with
important people, such as Prince Charles of England, Mrs. RE, Bob
Smith, Houston Mayor Bob LaNier, just to name a few. To James, no one
was a stranger. Once you met him, you would fall in love with him.
James was a member of the Twelve Royale Social Club, where he
traveled all over the United States and abroad. What he enjoyed most
was fishing. He loved cursing, cooking, and barbeque, but his specialties
were turkey stuffing, frying fish and shrimp.
Preceding him in death was his parents; one daughter, Damisha; his
maternal grandparents, Emma and Lessie Burns; and his paternal
grandparents, Nannie B. and James Young, Sr.
He leaves cherished memories to: his wife of 45 years, Gloria; 4 children,
James LaAngela, Renee and Nathaniel; 2 daughters-in-law, Cassandra

and Dakeisha; son-in-law, Jessie Wilson; 7 grandchildren, one great-
grandchild; 2 brothers, Julius Young and Edis Melvin Young; one

brother-in-law, Frank Crawford; 4 sisters-in-law, Nora L. Wiggins,
Carol Crawford, Kathy Young, and Mary Ann Crawford; 4 aunts, Lovie
Morgan, Ida Robinson, Bernice Jones, and Edna McElroy; 3 uncles,
Richard Burns, Ray Burns, Claude Young; very special friend, Peggy
Franklin; cousins, bonus extended family, 4 children, Lajundra (Mark),
Charles, (Quashawn), Tristan (Torsha) and Leondia; 8 bonus
grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services will be held on

    This so hard he was a good man and he touched so many people, James never met a stranger, he loved his family and if it was in his power if he could do it he would, we had 45 years of ups and down i want to thank you God for putting this man in my life. Rest in Peace my husband James Ivory Young Sr. I Love you always will💯🥰
