Clyde Williams
Clyde Williams was born in Harris County (Houston, Texas) on December 4, 1947. He was the youngest of three children born to the late Melvin Williams, Sr. and Hester Fregia Williams. Clyde has two older siblings, the late Melvin Williams, Jr. and Nina Clay. Clyde gave his life to Christ at an early age attending Mt. Moriah Baptist
Church in Houston, TX. As a young boy, Clyde enjoyed earning money by delivering newspapers, working at the Weingarten’s store, and playing with his dog, Buck. He graduated from Evan E. Worthing High School in 1966.Upon graduating from High School, Clyde enlisted in the Air Force where he completed basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. Shortly after, he was assigned to Sheppard Air Force Base near Wichita
Falls, Texas for training as an aircraft maintenance specialist and later transferred to Clinton-Sherman Air Force
Base in Washita County, Oklahoma in the Strategic Air Command (SAC) unit. While at the Clinton-Sherman Air Force Base, Clyde played basketball as center guard for their intramural team.
After serving four years active duty in Oklahoma, he moved back to Houston, Texas. His career started with Olin Oil
Corporation. After many mergers and acquisition, Clyde worked at the same location all those years with Exxon
Mobil Oil and Gas Company, Agrifos Fertilizer Company, and RenTech Nitrogen, Inc. After 47 years of employment, he retired in 2012 from RenTech Nitrogen, Inc. He enjoyed spending time with family, cooking his famous gumbo and beef tips with gravy, photography, researching, and in his words, “working on miscellaneous
projects”.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Wanda Smith-Williams; daughters and step-daughter, Wintress Dickson
(Chancellor), Tylar Williams, and Ta’Shena Smith; Grandchildren and Step-Grandchildren Karsyn Williams,
Camryn Dickson, Kalyn Dickson, Aliece Smith, and Avery Smith; one sister, Nina Clay (Jeffery); two nieces and a nephew, Tequa Johnson (Eric) , Ebony Clay, and Melvin Williams, III (Patricia), sister-in-law, Mary Williams (the late Melvin, Jr.), and Air Force brother Milton Williams, Sr. (Barbara), along with a host of great nieces and nephews, cousins, god children, co-workers, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents (Melvin Williams,
Sr. and Hester Fregia Williams), and older brother, Melvin Williams Jr.
Visitation will be held Friday July 12, 2019 from 10am to 6pm in the chapel of Daniel and Son Funeral home 401 W.18th st. Bryan, Tx 77803.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday July 13, 2019 at 2:30pm at Greater Salem M.B.C. 701 San Jacinto Lane, Bryan, Tx 77803.
Clyde and I were friends since I was 16 years old I loved him as much as I loved my brother-law (Melvin Williams Jr.) We lost touched 15 yrs ago but managed to write to each other through facebook a few times because of distance and life changes we lost touch with each other. His memory will always be with me. CLYDE you will always be a beautiful part of my life love you always. God bless you! Glenda
To my cousins family, I am so sorry for our lost. Clyde was a special and loving person who will be truly missed. I haven’t seen Clyde in quite a while but will always remember our talks and our growing up years. My blessings to Clyde’s family. Love always.
