Celebration of Life for Robert Earl Davis, Sr.
Obituary
Deacon Robert Earl Davis. St was born by midwife on April 23, 1953, in Mumford, Texas, to the late
Jodie and Cora Davis. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Kelvin Davis.
Husband and Father:
Mr. Davis met Betty J. Young, the love of his life, while they were students at Neal Jr. High School in Bryan, Texas. They dated until they married on July 21,1972. To this union were born three sons: Brodrick, Brylan, and Robert “Bobby” Jr. Mr. Davis played football at Neal Jr. High, and E.A. Kemp Schools. He graduated from Bryan High School (Class of 1973). Christian Man:
Mr. Davis loved Christ and his church family. He devoted time to Bible Study and volunteered as chaperone for youth trips. He served faithfully as a deacon at Pleasant Grove Baptist and New Testament Churches, both in Bryan, Texas. He last served as a deacon at Christ Holy Missionary Baptist Church in College Station, Texas. He loved singing in the choir and leading “Trouble in My Way.” He was a powerful prayer warrior who loved listening to gospel music and reading the Word. His son Bobby said, “When Daddy would pray, I knew I could take a nap!”
Family Man:
Mr. Davis’ motto was “speak your mind and know when to hold your tongue.” He was a man of “quiet strength” with a gentle, infectious smile; a kind man with a big heart who loved his family and the Dallas Cowboys. He loved to BBQ and would always brag about his “mop.” He loved his parents, helping to care for them and his mother-in-law. He was “Paw-Paw” to his grandchildren. He was very supportive and looked forward to seeing them as often as possible. He attended their football and basketball games, dance recitals, choir concerts, and other special events. He would take them to and pick them up from school. Seeing his grandchildren brought joy to Paw-Paw’s heart and a smile to his face.
Jack of all Trades:
Mr. Davis’ sons described him as a “jack of all trades, and if he didn’t know how to do it, he would figure it out.” He was a hard worker with a good work ethic. Prior employers were City of Bryan, Alenco, Young Bras Construction, Producers Cooperative, and D.R. Cain Associates. He worked 42 years in the oil field with Western Pacesetters, BJ Services, then retired from Weatherford. He believed in taking care of his family.

Aunts/Uncles: Lovie Haywood, Frances Cooper, Linda Bass (Timothy), Johnny Lewis, Ruben Cooper, Arthur Cooper (Christine)

My sincere condolences to the Davis family. I live in Nairobi, Kenya and just received the news this morning from a colleague of Mr. Davis’ passing. I worked with Mr. Robert Davis (“RD”) and Brylan Davis at BJ Services in Bryan when I was a young field engineer. RD was a gentleman who always gave his time in operational issues and regaled us with wonderful stories of the oilfield. May He Rest with the Angels.

Betty, I’m so sorry for your loss. We sort of loss touch, therefore didn’t know Robert was sick.
