Obituary
John L. Williams, Sr. was born on February 20, 1935, in Calvert, Texas to the late Willie C. and Viola Williams. John attended Bryan Public Schools and graduated from E.A. Kemp High School. He received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Texas Southern University and taught in Port Arthur Independent School District. He enjoyed teaching, singing, and spending time with his family.
John was preceded in death by his parents, one son, John Jr., three brothers, Robert Lee, Jesse, and Lloyd Williams; three sisters, Mary and Rosetta Williams, and Willie V. (Honey) Thompson.
John departed this life on February 26, 2024.
He leaves to cherish his memories, three daughters, Eunice Marshall of Houston, Texas, Shawnda Kay Brooks of Port Arthur, Texas, and Jessica DeShotel, of Houston, Texas; two sons, Justin and Phillip Williams of Houston, Texas; one sister, Helen Moore of Bryan, Texas; one brother, Cloyd Williams of Houston, Texas; six grandchildren: Jada, Joshua, Johnathan, Jaxon, Stephen, and Micah; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
