Obituary

Marshal Lee Wortham, Sr., son of Ruby Jewel Wortham and Spurgeon Peter
Young, Sr. was born on June 01, 1949. Marshal was born and raised in Bryan,
Texas, graduating from E.A. Kemp High School.
Marshal, a proud Veteran of the United States Army, passed away February
24, 2024 at Cornerstone Specialty Hospital.
He was promoted to Army Specialist 5 in Vietnam, where he served with the
195th Aviation Co., as Spec. 5 Wortham, a helicopter mechanic in the
company near Long Binh at Ft. Bliss.
Marshal L. Wortham, Sr. was a member of Lily Of The Valley COGIC, which
he served as a Deacon under the leadership of Bishop Maurice Green, Jr.
He enjoyed fishing, watching “The Young And The Restless”, and “The Bold
And The Beautiful.” Anyone that knew him, knew not to call between 11:00
AM – 1:00 PM.
Marshal was also a member of IBEW Union, where he worked as a Licensed
Electrician.
Marshal Lee Wortham, Sr. met and married Marjorie R. Lawrence and from
this union four children were born, Cyd’Charris Wortham, Marshal Lee
Wortham, Jr., Pamela Wortham, and Isaac Wortham. He later met and
married Belinda Wortham, and together, their three children are James
Wright, Taylor Wortham and Joshua Wortham.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ruby Jewel Wortham and Spurgeon
Peter Young, Sr., his grandparents, Mary and George Wortham, Sr., and sister,
Betty Ann Crawford Williams, brothers, Ulysses Young, William Toliver, and
Herbert Hubert, Jr.
He leaves to cherished memories, his children and their spouses, Cyd’Charris
Wortham, Marshal Lee Wortham (Yolanda), Pamela Wortham Toliver
(Ronald), Isaac Wortham, James Wright, Taylor Wortham, Joshua Wortham,
twelve grandchildren nineteen great-grandchildren; Gwendolyn Mooring,
Etta Mae Evans, and Spurgeon Young, Jr.; other relatives and friends.
