Christopher Wayne Boney began his walk in this world on July 8, 1967.Born to his mother, Ann Boney, in Amarillo, Texas, Chris was a young man in a hurry! At less than one year-old, and while his mother was away at work, Chris took his first steps, only to demonstrate his mastery to his surprised mother upon her return home. He joined the Greater Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church of Dallas, Texas in 1973, and at the age of eight (8) years-old answered the call to ministry under the leadership of Reverend Alvin White, Sr. and his mentor Reverend British Tharpe. He continued his ministry upon joining the Greater Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church of Bryan, Texas in 1981, under the leadership of Reverend D.N. Jones. During his adult years of 2012-2017, Chris was a member of Greater Ideal Baptist Church of Midland, Texas under the leadership of Reverend George Bell.
At Stephen F. Austin Junior High School, Chris was voted by his peers as Mr. SFA (SY ’82-’83), and he developed an affinity for track and field sports. He would continue his love of track and field sports at Bryan High School, distinguishing himself as an avid cross- country runner. Though he graduated from Lake Highlands High School in Richardson, Texas, Chris never lost his bonded connection to the BHS Class of ’86. A Viking through-and-through, Chris wholeheartedly embraced the phrase, “though we grow and leave thy portals, never will our spirits die. We remain forever faithful, alma mater Bryan High.” A well-rounded handyman and carpenter, with talents to fix many things, Chris spent many days pounding the pavement in pursuit of a gig that provided for himself and his extended family In this life race, Chris was preceded in death by grandparents, Vernell and Iras Boney, and John and Willie Thomas; great uncle,
James Brooks; uncle, Charles Boney; aunts, Johnnie McKnight and Ethel Williams.
To cherish his legacy and faithfully stay in the way, Chris leaves the following beloved family: sons, Christopher Vernell Boney, Darius Jamal Black, and Christopher Wayne Boney II; daughters, Krystina Wallace (Armon Hobson), Dereian La’Sha Black, Chrissa Iyana Boney, Chrisma Chante Boney; mother, Ann M. Boney; sister, Roycee Boney Spencer (Andra Spencer); brother, Raymond Vernell Boney; uncle, Jackie Wayne Boney; aunt, Hattie M.
