Peter Lee Hunter was born to the proud parents of Peter Charles Hunter & Lula Grace Brisby-Hunter on January 17,1937 in Brazos County. He was the second child of thirteen to their union. Peter became affectionately known to the family as “Pete Lee” On October 28, 1976, Peter Lee Hunter and Estelle Rebecca Weathers were united in holy matrimony in Norfolk Virginia. Peter had six children from his first marriage. At a young age Peter Hunter professed his love for Christ. He was a faithful member of Greater Salem Missionary Baptist Church until his health no longer enabled him to attend. Peter Lee Hunter left the cotton fields of Brazos County with dust on his shoes and determination in his heart. The world was big and wide, and he was ready to take charge of his piece of it. Peter Hunter was a man of great faith. Because of his faith and determination, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy in April of 1956.

As of a result, he served 30 years serving his country. When Command Master Chief Petty Officer Peter Hunter honorably retired, he and his wife Estelle relocated back to his roots in Bryan, Texas. He was excited to move back to the property that his parents had lived on for many years located on West 28th Street. He reacclimated himself in his family life and reestablished his relationship with his siblings, children, nieces, and nephews. Peter loved attending family reunions, family gatherings, cooking, dancing and traveling with his siblings for recreational leisure. He was an avid self-learner and taught himself how to build computers. He was a self-made man. He was an entrepreneur and believed in building financial security for him and his family. He truly loved his family and didn’t mind shooting straight with them. Of course, he did it in love. It gave him joy to be able to be a part of his grandchildren’s life. There was nothing like being a grandpa. He valued the time he spent with anyone that would tarry with him. He will be truly missed by all that knew and loved him.
