Deacon James Charles Sterling

We celebrate the wonderful life and beautiful homegoing for Deacon James Charles Sterling. James was born on December 6, 1940 in Caldwell, Texas to the proud parents of Ira Sterling and Ella Mae Sayles.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Elizabeth Sterling of 57 years; father, Ira Sterling; mother, Ella Mae Sayles; brothers, Howard Figured Sr.,and Harold Lucas.

Deacon Sterling lived his life by faith. His love for God was instilled in his family. He was a faithful member of Greater Salem M.B.C where he served as the Deacon and trustee.

In addition to his love of God, he loved his family unconditionally. He always looked forward to family gatherings,co-hosting family events at his home such as the annual Father’s Day recognition cookout and family gatherings.

Deacon Sterling always loved helping others. He was a faithful friend and loved everyone he came in contact with. He had a quiet demeanor with a strong presence. He saw good in everyone and was kind in his thoughts and actions towards all. He will definitely be missed.

Deacon James Sterling loved family. He loved and adored his children and grandchildren. He also cared for his nieces and nephews and would do anything to help them. He was an awesome brother-in-law to his wife’s siblings. He was loved as a sibling by them all.

Deacon Sterling was employed at All Seasons, formerly Alenco. He retired after 30 uears of services. He later worked part-time at Ben’s grocery store on MLK. Deacon James Charles Sterling leaves behind his devoted children: son, Cleveland Sterling of Sugarland, Tx; daughter, Rita Sterling of Bryan, Texas ; grandson, Joshua Benford and granddaughter, Kiara Benford both of Bryan, Texas; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
