Tommy Gloster Newton, Jr.
Sunrise: August 1, 1945
Tommy Gloster Newton was born August 1, 1945 in Brazos County to Gloster and Ruby Thornton Newton. He departed this life, January 2, 2020. Tommy grew up in Bryan, Texas on the West side of town and
attended Carver Elementary School. He graduated from E. A. Kemp High
School with the class of 1963. In 1965 he joined the U. S. Navy and served
for two years in San Diego, CA. He then returned to Bryan, Texas and
married Joyce Marie Ellis on December 2, 1967. To this union two sons
were born. After working in grocery retail as a stocker and cashier, he ad-
vanced his career and went to work for Alcoa Aluminum Company in Rock-
dale, Texas. He worked in various positions for 34 years, retiring in 2003.
He attended Blinn College and later worked as a substitute teacher at di-
verse schools in BISD area until he totally retired in 2006. For a short pe-
riod of time, he fulfilled one of his long-held dreams by raising cattle in the
country at the “Newton Ranch” until his health declined.
He will always live inside of our hearts. A family gathering will never let
us forget you. The Lord decided your transition into a land of no mores,
pains and ill wills of this world. We can focus on the goodness of the
Lord’s promised to never leave us. We accept and understand our separa-
tion… Until we meet again! Goodnight our Love!!
Tommy was preceded in death by both parents, his son-Tommy Lawrence
Newton, grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins.
We will cherish his memories always- wife, Joyce Ellis Newton; son, Sean
DeVair (Tiffiany) Newton, Sr. of Bryan, TX; brother, Lester (Wendy) Newton
of Denver, CO.; sister, Brenda Newton (Ernest) Hunter of Austin, TX., eight
grandchildren, three great grandchildren and a host of relatives and
friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 10, 2020 from 11am to 7pm at Daniel and Son Funeral Home, 401 W. 18th st, Bryan, Tx 77803
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2020 at 2:30pm at United Full Gospel Baptist Church 1600 West Martin Luther King, Bryan, Tx 77803.
Interment will be held immediately after services at Clayton Cemetery, Old Jones Rd.,College Station, Tx

You are all in my heart and thoughts at this difficult time. Please use this time to heal and be comforted knowing that Mr. Newton now has eternal peace. I hope you all will remember and hold forever the wonderful memories you shared.
