Reverend Travis McConley

Sunset: June 1, 2020

In the year 1925, on May 5th, the Lord blessed Reverend Walter McConley and Bertha Caulia Womack- McConley with their second Son, Travis. He was born in the Greens Settlement- Seven Star community in Burleson County.

He confessed a hope for Christ at an early age and became a member of Seven Star Baptist Church where he served as a deacon until he was called to preach the gospel.

He attended the Greens Community Elementary Grade School and graduated from Freeman High School. He was inducted into the United States Navy on March 14, 1945 where he served in Hawaii and Guam and was honorably discharged on May 2, 1946.

He met his one true love, Thelma Lee Lawson, and united in holy matrimony on June 22, 1947. To this union, they were blessed with two daughters: Othea Marie McConley- Harrison and Susan Jane McConley- Bryant ( Anothony). They made their home in Greens Settlement Community. He was called to preach the gospel and pastored John Baptist Church and County line Baptist Church until his retirement in 2018. He served as President of the Mt. Olive District Association Sunday School Congress from 1984 through 2018.

He is survived by and will be greatly missed by his daughters, two grandsons, Dorian Sean Harrison and Michael Herman Harrison, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held Friday, June 5, 2020 from 2pm to 6pm in the chapel of Daniel and Son Funeral Home 401 W. 18th St., Bryan, Texas.

Graveside services will be held Saturday June 6, 2020 at 2pm at the City of Caldwell Pavilion burial will be in the Rowland Cemetery.
