Nathaniel Rhodes Jr., the third oldest of the late Mary Liza Adkins Rhodes and Nathaniel Rhodes Sr. was born in Bryan, Texas on September 7, 1955.

A graduate of Bryan High School through the GED program, Nathaniel
worked at KBTX as the first young black cameraman. Nathaniel became a
truck driver later in life with United Van Lines where he loved and enjoyed
traveling to many states. Along with traveling, he enjoyed fishing and taking
his nephews to show off his great fishing skills, cooking and repairing things
in his home workshop.

Nathaniel will be remembered for his smile, his joy in helping those who
needed help moving and for driving his truck where he got his nickname “Big
Truck” from his brother-in-law, Kevin Brown. He enjoyed playing with his
nieces and nephews. There are great memories of early morning breakfast at
Shannon’s Café or Miss Helen’s having his coffee and conversing with
friends.

Nathaniel was preceded in death by his parents; maternal and paternal
grandparents, older brother, David Burton Jr.; sister-in-law, Connie Rhodes,
brothers-in-law, James Harris and Roland Koontz.

Left to cherish his memories are four sisters, Lois Ann Booker (Searcy),
Edith Joyce Brown (Kevin), Mary Alice Harris and Leatha M. Rhodes, all
of Bryan, Texas; five brothers, William A. Rhodes (Janice) of Desoto, Texas,
Donnie M. Rhodes (Gwen), Lynn Rhodes, Reverend Vance Rhodes and
Dennis Rhodes (Gloria) all of Bryan, Texas; a friend, Charlotte Manley; a
host of nieces, nephews and two special dogs, Capone and Mavi.
