Mrs. Lucy Eunice

Mrs. Lucy Eunice Gives was born July 5,1932 to the parentage of Alec Hughes and Leevina Robinson Hughes.    She attended Washington County Public School. She experienced Christian conversation at an early age. At the age of 16 Lucy united in Holy matrimony with Mr. Clarence Givens and to this union one child was born; Claudette Givens of Houston, Texas.      She lived in the Brenham area, later in life she met Mr. Elijah Lauderdale, and they lived in Friendswood, Texas, and they reared four children, Kenneth Lauderdale, Donna Spencer, Lynda Lauderdale, and Gregory D. Lauderdale. Later Lucy moved to Somerville, Texas.

Lucy worked for many years at Keller chair and Ladder in Caldwell and Ramada Inn, in Bryan, Texas. She then moved to La Puente, California, where she lived and worked as a private home sitter for 20 years there. She then returned home to Somerville, Texas.      Lucy loved to shop, have garage sales, replenish old goods and often visit for many hours with her friend, Mrs. Louise Cromo.       She is preceded in death by her father and mother; both husbands, Clarence Givens and Elijah Lauderdale; three sisters, Essie Bradley, Cedell Franklin, and Ruthel Woodard, One brother, Thomas Hughes; and one halfbrother, Eddie.      She is survived by her four children Claudette Givens of Houston, Texas, Kenneth Lauderdale of Wills Point, Texas, Donna Spencer of Bryan, and Lynda Lauderdale of Somerville, Texas; three generations of grandchildren; 13 grandchildren; 27 great grand-children and 4 great-great grandchildren; one sister, Mary Davenport of Houston, Texas and host of nieces and nephews.
