Mrs. Katy Mary Ellison Murphy
Sunrise: June 13, 1951
Katy was born on June 13, 1951 in Bryan, Texas, to the late Robert Copelyn and Berry L. Lister at an early age. Katy expressed her faith in Christ and was baptized under the leadership of Pastor Malone at Clayton Baptist Church in the Brushy Community. Katy continued to follow Christ and joined the Galilee Missionary Baptist Church where she continued to depend on Christ until her demise.
Katy was a devoted mother to her Children and to her grandchildren. She enjoyed being a mother and a caretaker so much that she took on the love of her siblings and her siblings children as a mother figure. She was just a caring a loving parent to all her kids and any other kids that she came in contact with. She was compassionate, gentle, nurturing and giving.
Katy graduated from Crockett Independent School District, and then went on to receive her certification in Cosmetology from cosmetology School. She enjoyed and loved going fishing as often as she could. She also enjoyed and loved dancing, especially swinging out with her husband. She was a good dancer.
Katy is proceeded in death by her parents; one brother; Thomas Moore.
Katy is survived by her loving husband, Leon ” Ricky” Murphy; one son, Derrick D. Murphy; one daughter, Latronda R. Ellison; three grandchildren, Brandon D. Ellison, Tanikae Martin, Za’ Kaevion Marqueous Tewell Lewis; five brothers, George Ellison ( Dorothy), Al Lister, Herbert Lee Daniels, Robert Copelyn, Marcus Copelyn; six sisters, Equilla woods, Brenda Weeks, Lenice Lister, Cheri Williams, Gwendolyn Cole and Lisa Ellison and a host of neices and nephews and other family members and friends.
