Mr. Balanoe “Jacob” Kungben Yemme

Mr. Balanoe “Jacob” Kungben Yemme of Bryan, TX passed away March 8, 2017 at St. Joseph Hospital in Bryan, TX. He was born September 23, 1953 in Takpo in the Upper West Region of Ghana, West Africa. Mr. Yemme was an outstanding long distance runner and ran for his home country in many international Track & Field competitions. In fact he was so good that in 1973 the then Texas A&M University Track Coach Charlie Thomas, recruited him to run for Texas A&M. Yemme spent his four years of eligibility competing for the Aggies while pursuing his College Degree in Physical Education which he obtained in 1977. After receiving his Master’s Degree in the same field of study from Sam Houston State University, he returned to College Station and started a very successful Taxi Service business, University Taxi, which he operated until his death.
Yemme is preceded in death by his parents Mr. and Mrs. Yemme.

He is survived by his three daughters, Sian Taylor (her husband, Lazerous, Sr.) of College Station, Tempest Bootye of College Station, and Sonya Daa Yemme of Houston. Six grandchildren, Mariah Malone, Chanin Harrison, Nevaeh Muse, Lazerous Taylor, Jr., Jayvion Smith and Malchi Muse all of College Station, Texas.
“Meeting Yemme is knowing Yemme”. He was an unforgettable individual who lived a caring and loving life. He had no short-cuts to doing the things he loved best. He will be missed.
A Funeral Service will be held for Mr. Yemme at Daniel and Son Funeral Home Chapel at 401 West 18th St, Bryan, Texas 77803 on March 25th 2017 at 11:00 a.m., with burial at Oakwood cemetery immediately after the service.
