Lucious Clemmons, Jr.

Lucious Clemmons, Jr. was born on April 26, 1953 in Hempstead, Texas to Lucious Clemmons Sr. and Mary McGee Clemmons. He departed this life on September 16, 2018.

Lucious Clemmons Jr. was also known as “Coach Clemmons.” He accepted Christ at an early age and joined Mt. Corinth Baptist Church. Lucious loved to sing and sang in the church choir until he left for college to attend Langston University in Langston, Oklahoma in August of 1973.

He graduated from Langston University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education in May of 1977. While at Langston University, Lucious played football and was a participant on the 1973 team that won the Oklahoma Collegiate Conference Championship that year. His good friend Thomas “Hollywood” Henderson was also on that team. Lucious married Barbara Buchanan on September 27, 1980.

He was a proud father of two sons, Lucious “Chase” Clemmons III and Caedrynn Conner.

Lucious was a football coach and social studies teacher for 35 years. He taught Social Studies and coached at Waller ISD for 3 years. He taught Texas and World History, Honors American History and coached in the College Station ISD for 32
years. Lucious was very passionate about his students achieving an education because he knew the advantages an education had afforded him. His favorite football team was the Dallas Cowboys, and according to Lucious, it was the only football team.

Lucious was a very outgoing and sociable person. He enjoyed cooking and hosting his family and friends on many occasions and holidays at his home. He was an avid fisherman who enjoyed fishing at every opportunity.

Lucious was preceded in death by both of his parents and his eldest brother Larry Clemmons. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Barbara Clemmons; sons Lucious “Chase” Clemmons III and Caedrynn Conner (Krysten), sister Kathryn Taylor; brothers,John Quincy Clemmons and Richard “Ricky” Clemmons, seven grandchildren; Kayla Michelle Conner, Ethan Hulen, Andraya Hulen, Tatum Hulen, Mykah Conner,
Gabriella and Liam Nielson, mother-in-law Irene Buchanan; sister-in-law Debra Buchanan and her son Hyrom Buchanan (Tikera); brothers-in-law Donald Adams and Joe Buchanan (November); nieces Kristi Taylor and Tracy Taylor; great nephews Grant and Blake Silmon; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held Friday, September 21, 2018 from 10am to 6:30pm with wake to follow from 7pm to 8pm at Daniel and Sons Funeral Home , 401 W. 18th street Bryan, Tx 77803.

Funeral Services will be Sat, September 22, 2018 at 2:30pm at Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 310 W. M.L.K. Jr., St. Bryan, Tx 77803.
