Lucious Clemmons, Jr.
Lucious Clemmons, Jr. was born on April 26, 1953 in Hempstead, Texas to Lucious Clemmons Sr. and Mary McGee Clemmons. He departed this life on September 16, 2018.
Lucious Clemmons Jr. was also known as “Coach Clemmons.” He accepted Christ at an early age and joined Mt. Corinth Baptist Church. Lucious loved to sing and sang in the church choir until he left for college to attend Langston University in Langston, Oklahoma in August of 1973.
He graduated from Langston University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education in May of 1977. While at Langston University, Lucious played football and was a participant on the 1973 team that won the Oklahoma Collegiate Conference Championship that year. His good friend Thomas “Hollywood” Henderson was also on that team. Lucious married Barbara Buchanan on September 27, 1980.
He was a proud father of two sons, Lucious “Chase” Clemmons III and Caedrynn Conner.
Lucious was a football coach and social studies teacher for 35 years. He taught Social Studies and coached at Waller ISD for 3 years. He taught Texas and World History, Honors American History and coached in the College Station ISD for 32
years. Lucious was very passionate about his students achieving an education because he knew the advantages an education had afforded him. His favorite football team was the Dallas Cowboys, and according to Lucious, it was the only football team.
Lucious was a very outgoing and sociable person. He enjoyed cooking and hosting his family and friends on many occasions and holidays at his home. He was an avid fisherman who enjoyed fishing at every opportunity.
Lucious was preceded in death by both of his parents and his eldest brother Larry Clemmons. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Barbara Clemmons; sons Lucious “Chase” Clemmons III and Caedrynn Conner (Krysten), sister Kathryn Taylor; brothers,John Quincy Clemmons and Richard “Ricky” Clemmons, seven grandchildren; Kayla Michelle Conner, Ethan Hulen, Andraya Hulen, Tatum Hulen, Mykah Conner,
Gabriella and Liam Nielson, mother-in-law Irene Buchanan; sister-in-law Debra Buchanan and her son Hyrom Buchanan (Tikera); brothers-in-law Donald Adams and Joe Buchanan (November); nieces Kristi Taylor and Tracy Taylor; great nephews Grant and Blake Silmon; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held Friday, September 21, 2018 from 10am to 6:30pm with wake to follow from 7pm to 8pm at Daniel and Sons Funeral Home , 401 W. 18th street Bryan, Tx 77803.
Funeral Services will be Sat, September 22, 2018 at 2:30pm at Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 310 W. M.L.K. Jr., St. Bryan, Tx 77803.

Lucious always had a smile. We often saw him at the State Track Meet in Austin every May. We always had great fellowship. He will be truly missed.

Please accept my condolences. I met Mr. Clemons about 55 years ago at Mount Corinth Baptist Church in Hempstead, Texas and he was nice.
Our Condolences to the entire family of Mr. Lucious Clemmons Jr. We had the privilege of enjoying his BBQ skills a few years ago at a friend’s house in Houston. May he Rest in Peace.

What a wonderful man, coach and mentor he was to, not only my children, but to legions of Consol kids-he loved them all. May he rest in the arms of angels.
We have lost another good man. He coached my son and we all liked him. Prayers for the family.

Lucious Clemmons AKA (GUN-HO) as we called you at Langston University because of your Fu-Man-Chu Mustache.I always considered you and Leonard Lang my little brothers at Langston because we were from Texas at the Oklahoma School, You guys from Heampstead and I from Houston. I’ll never forget our singing groups at Langston U. and have always thought of you when the SONG YOU MAKE ME FEEL BRAND NEW COMES ON. I been lucky tosee you several times over the last 5 years although I live in the Phoenix Arizona area. Heaven will have a new voice in the choir and a Master chef in the kitchen with your Peach cobblers, German (C) Cakes,Fried Catfish and BBQ Ribs. Family you’re indeed in my thoughts and prayers. You knew that I didn’t have a dad at home and I think you expected more out of me. Lessons that I have carried with me to this day. I worked with Lucious at A&M Consilidated back in the 80’s. I coached volleyball, but always wore wamups because Lucios, who called me Casper the Ghost because my legs were so white, would tease me mercilessly. The world will miss Lusious, he was a good man, a good coach, and a good friend. While I haven’t seen him in a couple of years, I will never forget that grin, or him. God bless his family.

I have so many great memories of Coach Clemmons. From the first day of Junior High football to his huge smile and great laugh to coaching varsity football to his history class being the best class in Junior High. We lost a great man, but heaven gained a great new member of its choir.
