Lemara ” Mookie” Wilson

Lemara “Mookie” Wilson, age 79, of Bryan, TX passed away Friday afternoon, November 15, 2019 at her daughter’s residence.
She was born December 26, 1939, in Brazos County, daughter of the
late Thelma Thornton and Earnest Newton.


She grew up in Bryan, Texas and attended Bryan Public Schools. For several years, she worked at Wyatt Cafeteria as the Head Baker and later retired from Texas A&M University at the age of 60. She
loved gardening, taking small walks and spending time with her
family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She will continue to be recognized and remembered as the strong,
independent woman who never hesitated to express her love and concern for everyone.
Lemara was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, five brothers;
three nieces and a great nephew.


She leaves to cherish her memory five children, Frank Brisby, Linda
Jackson (Kemon), Helen Gholson (Allen), Alice Chatman (Anthony)
and Earnest Johnson, all of Bryan, Texas; seven grandchildren,
Tywann Brisby, Shevetta Brisby, Ethan Brisby, Quinette Brisby,
Khadijah Brisby, Anel Gholson of Bryan, Texas and Frank Franklin
of Dallas, Texas. Also to cherish her memory are fifteen great-
grandchildren, eight sisters, Celestine Smith, Shirley Childs, Cristela
Newton, Deborah Newton, Gladys Thornton, Linda Kay Thornton,
Gloria Newton and Connie Thornton; five brothers, Donald Ray
Newton, Dwayne Newton, Archie Newton, Billy Jo Newton and
Winston Thornton and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and
friends.

Visitation will be held November 22, 2019 from 10am to 6pm at Daniel and Son Funeral home.

Services will be held Saturday November 23, 2019 at 11pm at Pleasant Hill B. C. In Bryan.
