James Johnson, Sr

James Johnson Sr was born on July 5, 1927 in Burton, Tx, to the late Jonnie Johnson Sr and Lenora (Huff). He worked many years as an agricultural laborer, in West Texas, for the City of College Station, Tx, just to name a few. He enjoyed working on engines large and small. His passion was collecting and repairing lawnmowers. The most enjoyable time seemed to be when friends would stop by and they would sit under the shade tree and talk for hours drinking coffee, Dr. Peppers, etc.

James was married for many years and then divorced to the late Laura Graves. Their union was blessed with 10 children. James Johnson Jr ( Joycelyn) of Bryan, Tx, Jessie Johnson ( June) of Somerville, Tx The late Joe Charles Johnson ( Ruby) of San Antonio, Tx, Lonnie Johnson of Somerville Tx, Helen Wise ( Billy) of Waco, Tx, Billy Don Johnson ( Bertha) of Houston, Tx, Linda Johnson of Somerville, Tx, Floyd Johnson of Somerville, Tx, Loura Ann Johnson ( Ronnie) of Somerville, Tx, Brenda Carter ( Raymond) of Brenham, Tx. He help raise Alisa Powell ( Noble) of Brenham, Tx and Emmanuella Kar of Somerville, Tx.

On Thursday December 28, 2017 the lord called upon James Johnson Sr and he departed this life. His passing brought sadness to the hearts of all who loved him. Our hearts may throb and ache but we know he maketh no mistakes, our cherished plans may go astray; our hopes my fade away, but still we trust our Lord to lead us for he knows the way. On this day he made no mistakes.

James was preceded in death by eight brothers and sistera, Willie Johnson, Johnnie Johnson, Volumie Johnson, Lenora J. Batts, Vercie J. Ross, Beatrice J. Patterson, Robert Johnson, Hiram Lee Johnson Sr.

He leaves many grandchildren and great- grandchildren and host of other relatives and friends.
