Irene Buchanan

Ms. Irene Buchanan was born August 16, 1934 in Robertson County to
Lige and Fannie Adams. She departed this life on December 1, 2019. She
grew up in the Edge Community and attended John M. Moore School and
Kemp High School.

Ms. Buchanan joined Friendship Baptist Church at an early age and there she
accepted Jesus Christ and devoted her life to serving Him. During her life-
time she was a member of the Pilgrim’s Rest Baptist Church where she
worked diligently and for many years as the church secretary. She was also a
member of the New Testament Missionary Baptist Church and served there
diligently also.

Ms. Irene, as everyone called her, was a consummate domino player. She
played and beat her children, children in the neighborhood, siblings,
strangers and anyone who dared to compete with her. She was a fabulous
cook and worked at many establishments using this skill. She was always
trying new recipes and different types of food to give her children variety in
their meals. She mastered cooking soul food and all who knew her raved
about her greens. She was one of the first cooks at the new F. W. Woolworth
(Woolworth’s) store’s coffee shop in Downtown Bryan, Texas. She left
Woolworth’s and went to work at City National Bank, which is now Wells
Fargo. She worked in the banking industry for 27 years and held various
positions before retiring.

Ms. Buchanan was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Curtis
Wayne Adams and Elijah Adams and one sister Georgia Edwards.

She leaves to mourn and cherish her memory her brother Otis Charles Adams,
Sr. of Houston, sons Donald Adams of Bryan, Texas and Joe Buchanan
(November) of Colorado Springs, Colorado; daughters Barbara Clemmons of
College Station, Texas and Debra Buchanan of Dallas, Texas; grandsons
Hyrom Buchanan of Arlington, Virginia, Caedrynn Conner of Leander, Texas,
Lucious “Chase” Clemmons 111 of College Station, Texas, Titus Adams of Bryan,
Texas; granddaughters, Shanisha (Gennaro) Bustera of Denver, Colorado
and Kantrece “Pumpkin” Adams of Bryan, Texas; great-granddaughters Kayla
Michelle Conner, Page Buchanan-Hall, Kiara Linwood, Saunti Buchanan,
Alasia Conway; great-grandsons Julius Christopher Buchanan, Charles Sims,
Arkaivon Conway; great-great granddaughters Autumn Linwood, Grace
Goodman, Ariana Buchanan; great-great grandsons Julius Christopher
Buchanan II, Caleb Goodman and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held Friday  December 6,2019 from 10am to 6 pm in the chapel of Daniel and Son Funeral 401 West 18th st Bryan, Tx 77803.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday December 7, 2019 at 2 pm at Pleasant Grove M.B.C in Bryan, Tx.
