Ms. Irene Buchanan was born August 16, 1934 in Robertson County to
Lige and Fannie Adams. She departed this life on December 1, 2019. She
grew up in the Edge Community and attended John M. Moore School and

worked diligently and for many years as the church secretary. She was also a

strangers and anyone who dared to compete with her. She was a fabulous
cook and worked at many establishments using this skill. She was always
trying new recipes and different types of food to give her children variety in
their meals. She mastered cooking soul food and all who knew her raved
about her greens. She was one of the first cooks at the new F. W. Woolworth
(Woolworth’s) store’s coffee shop in Downtown Bryan, Texas. She left
Woolworth’s and went to work at City National Bank, which is now Wells
Fargo. She worked in the banking industry for 27 years and held various
positions before retiring.
