Obituary

Missionary Lucy Smith Swain passed away on December 7, 2022. She was born to Perry
and Luverta Green Smith in Wheelock, Texas.
Upon finishing high school, Missionary Lucy Swain took vocational courses in
nursing to obtain a certification as a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN).
During Missionary Lucy Swain’s life, she was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, nurse,
and church member.
Missionary Lucy Swain was always active in the church. Some of the positions she held
during her lifetime were First Lady of Perry Memorial COGIC, President of the Young
Christian Council, President of Serving Circle and Artistic Fingers, President of
Women’s Department at Perry Memorial COGIC, and was instrumental in rebuilding
Perry Memorial COGIC after a fire.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, Zephaniah Smith, Jeremiah Smith, Sr.,
David Smith, and Wilson Jim Smith; five sisters, Ruth S. Dorsey, Johnny M. Gentry,
Mary B. Smith, Gladys Smith, and Rachel Spivey.
She leaves to cherish her memory, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and
friends.
