Obituary

Leon Houston was born on March 25, 1948 to Shadrack Houston Sr. and Josephine Nelms Houston in Bryan, Texas. He accepted Christ as his Lord and savior at an early  age at Peaceful Rest Baptist Church. Leon received his education in Bryan Independent  School District, where he graduated from E. A. Kemp High School.

Leon loved watching westerns, watching sports – tennis, basketball, football, and loved  to bar-b-que. He was a great neighbor and was often seen lending a hand with auto  repair, fixing items in a neighbor’s home, taking out trash for them and just being overall helpful. Leon was a War Veteran and a Purple Heart recipient. He departed this life on  Monday, June 21, 2021 at Chi St. Joseph Regional Health Center in Bryan, Texas.

Proceeding him in death his father, Shadrack Houston Sr.; mother, Josephine  Houston; and sister, Irene Houston.

Leon’s memory will live on through the life of all his remaining family. Left to cherish  his memories are his wife, Jeanette Houston; his daughter, Tonette Johnson Jenkins  (Melvin Jenkins); one brother, Shadrack Houston Jr. (Mildred) and his bonus sons,  Christopher Manley, Malcolm Manley, and Marquis Manley and a host of relatives and  friends.
