OBITUARY
On May 13, 1931, God blessed George Washington, Jr., and Annie Mae King Washington, with their second daughter, Helen Jean Green.She was united in Holy matrimony to C.D. Greene (deceased), to which eight children were born.Helen attended and graduated from Smith Graded High School. She accepted Christ as her personal Lord and Savior at an early age while in the Church of God and Christ movement. She had a strong hunger for the Lord. She later joined the Holy Temple of Jesus Christ No. 8; where she was a faithful member for over 60 years. She served as an adult Sunday School teacher for several years. She was ordained as a minister and was the Assistant Pastor for many years. In 2003 she was appointed Pastor, where she severed, faithfully, for over 15 years. In 2019, she decided to step down as pastor and became an Emeritus Pastor until God called her home.In her early years, she worked at Keller’s factory, did small jobs, cooking, and sitting with the elderly, but was mostly a housewife. One of her specialties was cooking and baking. She was known for her dewberry cobbler and sweet potato pies.Preceded in death by her husband, C.D. Greene; father, George Washington, Jr.; mother, Annie Mae Washington; children: daughter, Katherine Green; son, Cedric Wayne Green; sisters, Pensacola Watson, Ruby Shoels, Della Gray; brothers, George Washington, Merion Washington, Booker T. Washington. Helen is survived by five daughters, Joyce Johnson (Verntel), Shirley Gray, B. Anna Bradley (Donald), Willie B. Greene, Denise Horn; one son, Bennie Green (Barbara); one sister, Hazel Bryant; two sisters-in-law, Faye Washington and Evelyn Washington; 19 grandchildren, 34 Great Grandchildren, 9 great-great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
