Home Going Celebration for Mr.Billie James McGee

Obituary

Billie James McGee was born on October 10, 1949 to the late Sylvester Tennell and Joyce Marie
McGee in Bryan, Texas.
At an early age, Billie accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior. Billie was a member of New
Bethlehem and participated as a member of the church until his health failed. Billie was a prayer
warrior. He loved to pray. He always believed in going to the Lord for his guidance, therefore that
meant he had to pray a lot.
Billie grew up in Bryan, Texas and attended Bryan Independent School District. At the age of 18,
Billie joined the ranks of the United States Air Force and served his country for 4 years. After
leaving the military, Billie Became a truck driver and drove trucks for 37 years.
Billie met and married the love of his life, Mrs. Reta Foley McGee and they were married for over
45 years. God blessed him with 3 children and 2 grandchildren. He said many times he enjoyed
thinking and talking and remembering his wife because it brought comfort to him and because he
loved her very much.
Billie loved the outdoors and his favorite season was Spring because everything was fresh and the
sun shinned a lot, where he could have a vegetable garden.
Billie didn’t have many hobbies, but he did enjoy football, and the Dallas Cowboys were his
favorite team. He loved listening to soul music and loved trying to guess the song and naming the
artist. His favorite movie star was Clint Eastwood. He could watch any movie that was starring
with Clint Eastwood.
Billie was preceded in death by his parents, Sylvester Tennell and Joyce Marie McGee, and his
wife, Reta Foley McGee.
Billie leaves to cherish his memories: his children, Dexter Hedge (Jacqueline), Timothy Edward
McGee (Cloresa), Demetria Baker (Rufus) and James (J.B) McGee; his grandchildren, Lexus
Hedge, Mercedes Hedge, Tyjha McGee, Jordan McGee, Daqurius “DQ” and Latravious “Trey”
Parker; great-grandchildren, LaMyia Walker, Tevin Blackshear, Jr., Charli Wade; his brothers,
Robbie McGee, Sylvester Tennell II, Rev. Curtis Tennell (Shelly), Jerry Tennell (Michelle),
Kenneth Tennell (Renea) and Kelvin Tennell (Lettie), his sister, Glen Dailey (Tommy), Ella
Jefferson, Beverly Tennell, and Regina Carter (Rev. Tommy Carter),; and a host of nieces,
nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, May 20, 2023 11 AM New Bethlehem Baptist Church

Visitation Services will be held on Friday, May 19, 2023 from 11am to 7pm at Daniel and Son Funeral home located at 401 W 18th Street Bryan, Texas 77803
