Deacon Robert Earl Clark

September 18, 1945 – February 3, 2025

On September 18, 1945, the fourth son of A. ​ C. Clark, Jr. and Robbie Ree Malone Clark was born. ​ They named him Robert Earl Clark. ​ He grew up in College Station, Texas. ​ Robert Earl accepted Christ at an early age at Pleas­ant Grove Baptist Church in Wellborn, Texas, under the leadership of Rev­erend G. W: Williams. ​ He attended Lincoln High School in College Station, Texas, and graduated with the class 0f 1964. ​


In high school, he excelled in football, basketball, and baseball. ​ After gradu­ating from Lincoln High in 1964, Robert Earl enlisted in the United States Air Force and served 14 months during the Vietnam War. ​ Robert Earl mar­ried Doris Rose in 1967, and they welcomed one son, Eric Dwayne Clark, into this union. ​ He was honorably discharged from the United States Air Force on May 3, 1968. ​ He lived in Los Angeles, California, for over 30 years and worked at the University of California, in Los Angeles (UCLA). ​

After moving to Texas, he married Glenda Sue Johnson and remained with her for several years until her passing in 2009. ​ Robert Earl was ordained as a deacon at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in College Station, Texas, under his brother’s leadership, Reverend A. ​ C. Clark III. ​ He was a source of encour­agement for the youth and stayed a faithful church member until his death. ​

Robert was famous for loving to engage in intensive arguments with any­body, especially family members, mostly Elbert, Albert, and Richard. ​

He was preceded in death by his wife, Glenda Sue; his father, A. ​ C. Clark Jr.; his mother, Robbie Ree Malone Clark; his sister, Lillian Clark Robinson; his brothers, Elbert Marion Clark and Richard “Dick” Clark; and his nephew, Floyd Herbert Clark Jr. ​ Cherishing his precious memories are his son, Eric Dwayne Clark of Los Angeles, California, and his five brothers: Albert Clifton Clark (Mary) and Reverend A. ​ C. Clark III (Betty), both of College Station, Texas; Floyd Her­bert Clark (Jacquettia) of Fort Worth, Texas; Reverend Leroy Darnell Clark (Arlene) of Fresno, Texas; and Reverend Marion Otis Clark (Diane) of Sugar Land, Texas. ​ He is also remembered by a host of beloved relatives and friends.
