Cora Bernice Griffin Carter

On April 12, 1928,in Bryan, Texas,Dan and Pearl Cecelia Griffin were blessed with their first child. They named her Cora Bernice Griffin. She attended the public school system in Bryan until graduation.

After high school, Cora attended Huston Tillotson University in Austin, Texas where she excelled in her studies.

Cora joined Peaceful Rest Baptist Church and was a dedicated member. She later United with Galilee Missionary Baptist Church where she remained until her health failed.

She is preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Clarie Smith and one brother, Thomas Griffin.

Her memory will be cherished by her loving family: two sons, Marvin McGarthy (Jeanette) and Ronald McGarthy; a  loving daughter Cheryl McGarthy; one sister, Dorothy Nolly; four grandchildren and four great- grandchildren, and a host of many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
