Clara Grismore Bullock
Sunrise: June 29, 1924
Clara Grismore was born on June 29 1924 to the union of the late Jim and Rachel Grismore. She accepted
Christ at the ae of 9years old and was baptized at St. Emanuel Baptist Church where her membership remained
until her death. At her church, she served in many capacities; choir member, church secretary/Clerk and eventually
named Mother of the Church. She was one of the oldest members in the church. She encouraged others to get to know
Christ for themselves.
Clara attended Blackshear High School and later joined many Civic Group and worked tor the Hearne Independent School District
for over 30 years in Food Service. She later worked as a Home Health Aid for close friend, Mrs. Edna Davis. She worked in
many places during her younger years: cleaners, florist and child care provider. She worked for the Griffin and Fox families for years.
She met and married Henry Boone and two daughters were born to this union, Carolyn “Sue” Jones and Henri Mae “Red” Walford.
Later in life, she married Philetus Johnson and to this union, four sons were born, Van Ira Johnson, Willis Charles Johnson,
Preston Johnson and Earl Grismore. After the death of Philetus, she married Will Bullock and they adopted a daughter, Gracie Wells. She also reared two grandchildren, Shelia Few and Timothy Boone.
Our beloved mother, grandmother and aunt, sister Clara passed away on May 6, 2020 at 4:00 am. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Van Ira and Willis Charles Johnson; two daughters, Henri Mae and Carolyn along with all thirteen of her sibling.
She leaves to cherish her memories two sons, Preston Johnson (Lovie) and Earl Grismore (Sharon); and one adopted daughter Gracie Wells; the oldest granddaughter, Shelia Few; two grandsons, Tim Boone and Rev. Leon Boone; seventeen other grandchildren; forty-seven great grandchildren; twenty great-great grandchildren; twelve great-great-great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews,
cousins and many friends from her church family; a loving Pastor, Rev. Cedric Rouse who she viewed as a son; a good friend and
daughter, Charlette Day, a best friends and niece, Gladys Golden and a very close friend, Louise Sharp.
