Charles ” Chuck” Walton

December 3, 1947

November 20, 2019

On December 3, 1947, a handsome baby boy was born by the name of Charles Henry to Jessie
Mae Hunter Walton and Odis T. Walton. During his early childhood Charles aka (Chuck) was
full of energy and curiosity. He enjoyed the many childhood things done by most boys around
Candy Hill. He and his big brother Odis aka (Bubba) used their skills and talents in many
ways. Just to name a few they explored the underground access underneath their home to build
cities with houses and buildings made from popsicle sticks and kite string, and used soda bottles
as their cars. By the way, they also attached that same kite string to limbs to make kites that
flew for what looked like miles because the string was so long. The two of them did a lot of
crawfishing in the nearby branch as well. He had a great appreciation for music and played
the saxophone in his high school band.

On August 1, 1999 he married the love of his life, Annette Davenport. To this union one son
“Caelon” was born. Chuck enjoyed family gatherings/outings, traveling, taking care of the
yard (no matter what the temp), listening to smooth jazz, shooting pool, dancing, playing soli-
taire and talking to the grandchildren and longtime friends over the phone. He was indeed a
jack of all trades and a handy man for whatever your need was. There was nothing that you
could mention that he didn’t have some kind of experience or knowledge of. As time went on I
looked back over the past two months I realized that you were getting weak, yet you being the
strong soldier you were you kept on fighting. It was hard to let you go, but I knew the time had
come for me to allow God to do his will. God knew your pain had become much greater than
you could sustain. On November 20, you got your wings, entered through the pearly white
gates with streets paved of gold to join Dad, Madear, and Jean all awaiting to be reunited with
you as a whole. You will always hold a special place in my heart and I know we will meet
again.

He attended Bryan Public Schools, graduated from EA Kemp High School in 1965. He also
attended Blinn College where he received an Associate Degree in Business and Houston
Community College obtaining an Associate Degree in Applied Science, along with a Certification
in Residential Real Estate.

He was preceded in death by Odis T. Walton (father), Irma Jean Walton Clark (sister), and
Jessie Mae Walton (mother). Precious memories will be cherished by his wife Annette, four
sons Malik (Daneen) of Patterson, New Jersey, Omar (Philana) Tomball, Texas, Brandon, Katy
Texas and Caelon, Houston, Texas and one daughter, Alisha (Joseph) Richmond, Texas; two
brothers, Odis (Willie Faye) and William (Delores), Garland, Texas; two special aunts, Bernell
Hunter Overton of Los Angeles, California and Maudi E. Hunter of Oakland, California; three
nieces, Valeta R. Clark Jones, Katy, Texas, Dawn Eberhardt (Ron), Round Rock, Texas and
Kristal Walton, Chicago, Illinois; two nephews Odis Jr. (Sharina), Garland, Texas, Christopher
(Shawntell) Austin, Texas; nine grandchildren, Shaneen, Khadir, Joy, JoAnn, Jordan, Levi,
Darius, Lynziah, and Nevaeh, and a host of great nephews/nieces, relatives, friends, and
in-laws.

Visitation will be held Friday, November 29, 2019 from 10am to 6pm in the Chapel of Daniel and Son Funeral home, 401 W.18th st Bryan, Tx 77803

I was very saddened to read about Chuck’s passing in the Bryan Eagle. Chuck sold me my very first car back in the 70s when he worked at Tom Wilkerson and we became friends. He was such an intelligent guy. Hadn’t seen him in years and ran across him in Navasota one day when he was working for the Texas Highway Dept. May God be with his wife, children and family members. May he rest in peace.
