Obituary

Merion Charles Smith (Pop) was born in Bryan, Texas on July 19, 1967.
He was the third child born to the late Carolyn Sue Sostand and Otis
Johnson. Merion gave his life to Christ at an early age he joined Greater
Salem Missionary Baptist Church and was baptized under the leadership
of the late Rev. M.D Morgan. He also attended Living Hope Baptist Church of Bryan, Texas.

Merion attended Bryan public schools and was a graduate of Bryan High
School class of ‘85. He was gainfully employed by the Lory of Bryan
where he was a maintenance supervisor and also worked at numerous
other properties. Merion was very family oriented he loved to barbecue,
listen to music, and developed a passion for drawing. He also was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys football team.He leaves to cherish his memory his children: China Smith-Goins (Phillip)of Bryan, TX , Christon (C.J.) Smith of Woodlands TX, Brianna Smith-
Herring of Bryan ,TX, MacKenzie Kirk of Houston, TX, and Jordan Weeks

of Queen Creek, AZ; Two sisters, Kimberly Smith-Ruiz of Bryan, TX , and
Melody Johnson of Compton, CA; One brother, Jason Sostand (Drinda) of
Bryan, TX; Special Friend, Angela Jurica, along with a host of uncles,
aunts, grandchildren, nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends. He was
preceded in death by his parents (Carolyn Sue Sostand and Otis Johnson),
grandparents (Awbra Smith, Sr. and Dessie Mae Smith), and brother(Grayling Patrick Smith (Bruno)).

Funeral Service: Saturday, August 17, 2024 – 2:30PM United Full Gospel Church 1600 W Martin Luther King Jr. Street, Bryan, TX, 77803

Visitation Service: Friday, August 16, 2024 from 2:00P.M until 7:00P.M at Daniel & Son Funeral Home located at 401 West 18th Street Bryan, Texas 77803
