Celebration of Life For James Alexander
Obituary
Rev. James Alexander, native of Louisiana and current resident of Caldwell, Texas,
was born on February 25, 1933, to the late James Alexander, Sr., and Leola Piper
Alexander.
Rev. Alexander retired from ministry after 45 years. The last church ministered was
Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, Caldwell, Texas. After retirement, he and Mrs.
Alexander joined Immanuel Christian Fellowship Church, under the leadership of
Rev. Thurman Sims.
While living in Houston, Texas he worked for B&B Trucking Company, as a Truck Driver,
where he retired after 20 years of service. During his life in Caldwell, he worked for
Sherman Wire Factory, where he retired after 30 years of service.
Before his illness he loved riding his lawn mower, playing with his dogs, and
chatting with his grandson (Kenneth) on the phone.
Rev. Alexander married Lonnie Faye Carroll on April 19, 1971, whom she had 2
children that he loved and reared as his own: Charlotte Toland-Moore and Kenneth
Ardwin Toland. He was previously married to Mercie D. Sloan, under this union, 4
children were born: Lula Washington, Clarence Alexander, Barbara Alexander, and
Toneail Alexander.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Alexander, Sr. and Leola Piper-
Alexander, grandmother, 2 brothers, 2 sisters, and a son by his wife Lonnie Faye
(Kenneth Toland).
Rev. Alexander leaves to cherish his memory: loving wife, Lonnie Faye Carroll-
Alexander, Caldwell, Texas; sons: Clarence Alexander (Debra) Houston, Texas,
Toneail, Alexander (Florymer), Houston, Texas; daughters: Lula Washington,
Shreveport, Louisiana, Barbara Alexander-Ademolu, Houston, Texas and Charlotte
Toland-Moore (Dean), Bryan, Texas; sister: Teresa Isaac (Deamous), Baltimore,
Maryland; and brother: Willie Hayes Lawton (Yvonne), Atlanta, Georgia. He has 8
grandchildren: Kenneth Dante Toland, Marcus Armstrong, Andre Washington,
LaNeail Alexander, Tonisha Alexander, Toneail Alexander, Garland and Gabriel
Alexander, and Charles Ademolu; 14 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces,
nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, July 22, 2023 11:00a.m. at Macedonia Baptist Church, Caldwell,Tx, 404 E Fawn St, Caldwell, TX 77836
