Obituary
Valesta Evette Collins (Netta), 64, of Seattle, Washington, went to be with the Lord on Friday,
November 11, 2022.
Valesta was born in Bryan, Texas, to Maurice and Dorothy (Daniel) Green. She graduated from Bryan High, attended Long Beach City College and progressed as a professional educator with more than 20 years of Education and Caregiving experience. “Ms V”, as she was professionally known, championed an unprecedented track record in structured and stimulating classroom management, teaching assessment, behavior modification, curricula planning and educational development in accordance with both California and Texas State Licensing.
She united in marriage with Moses Collins Jr. in 1978 and to this union five children were born.
The consummate mother, her children and the love she had for them was always on display, this love was only matched by the love for her eleven grandchildren. Always chic and fashionable, Netta, as she was known by family and friends, accepted Christ early in her life.
Diligent, trustworthy, discerning, resilient, loving, caring, passionate, and loyal are just a few inherent qualities attributed to her by the many friends who were blessed to know her.
Valesta attended Trinity Church in Cedar Hill, Texas for several years before moving to Seattle where she served faithfully at The Gathering Church, under the pasturage of her son, Pastor Keenan Collins. Celebrated as a ready encourager and faithful servant of the Lord, Valesta ministered and taught powerfully in her callings as an Evangelist, an anointed teacher and an avid intercessor.
Valesta is preceded in death by her father, Maurice Green, Sr. and mothers: Dorothy Mae (Daniel) Green, Lorene (Lewis) Green; brothers: Bernest C. Evans, Wesley C. Green; sister
Delores M. Green and daughter Christina Collins.
Left to cherish the loving memory of Netta are her four children: Moses Collins III (Shantel) Atlanta, GA, Reshod Collins (Brittany) Houston, TX, Keenan Collins (Zzaj) Seattle, WA, Tasha Darden (Thomas) Monrovia, CA; grands: Sloan, Jacob, Jared, Amir, Zuri, Kennedy, Zion, Nina, Simone, Hendrix, and Princeton; six siblings: Authuryne Joiner, Roselle Jones (Johnny), Maurice Green, Jr. (Barbara), Marietta Starks, Lynda Dearman, Tommy Green (Renee); and a beautiful host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
