Robert, born on November 27,1961 in Bryan, Texas, was the second of seven children born to Clarence Albert Stepney, Sr. and Betty Lois Stepney. He came to be affectionately known as “Bill” to his family and loved ones. Robert passed on Wednesday, May 07, 2025, surrounded by loving family, friends and caretakers at CHI St. Jospeh Regional Heath Center. A beloved soul and beacon of light, Robert graced this world with warmth, kindness, and an infectious joy that touched everyone he encountered. Robert was introduced to and accepted Christ at a very young age and he
continued his strong faith throughout his life. Robert dedicated 36 years of faithful service to St. Joseph, where he wasn’t just a colleague, but a friend, a mentor, and a source of sunshine to all who crossed his path. He had an extraordinary gift for making people feel seen,
valued, and uplifted.

A proud graduate of Bryan High School, Class of 1980 and Prairie View
A&M University Class of 1984, Robert carried his spirit of excellence and love for life into everything he did. A world traveler and a man of many connections, his presence was felt both near and far. He enjoyed traveling, fishing, a “Cold Pepsi” in the mornings and spending time with family and friends. Robert was a vital part of the community, always ready to lend a hand, lift a
spirit,or simply brighten a room. You could see his beautiful eyes and radiant smile from a mile away, a reflection of light he carried within. He lived life to the fullest and loved with a heart that knew no limits. His radiant spirit, generous nature, and unshakable positivity will be deeply
missed but forever remembered.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Albert Stepney, Sr. and Betty Lois Stepney; grandparents; Mable Pool Stepney, and Samatha
Cooper; one brother-in-law; Reverend Lee Canady; one Aunt; Maime Cleveland and Cousins Anthony Stepney and Gale Stepney Farrow. Robert’s legacy of love, laughter, and fun will be shared in memory by his three brothers, Kelly Stepney (Patrice), Clarence Stepney, Jr, and Patrick
(Raye); his three sisters; Connie Stepney Canady, Bettie Stepney Williams (Derald) and Terrie Stepney; his nephews and nieces, who he enjoyed spending time with; his special friends; Wanda Smith Williams, Rene Summers, Roderick Smith, Waylon Edwards and Joe Moncivais; his puppy
Queenie, and a host of other relatives and friends.
