Celebrating the Life of Mrs. Valerie Martin

Valerie Jackson Martin was born on March 03, 1936 in Franklin Texas to the proud parents

Earnest Jackson, Sr. and Minerva Cavitt McGee.

Valerie accepted Christ at an early age and was a faithful member through out her life. She

attended Galilee Missionary Baptist Church, and was on their usher board for many year. Later she

joined New Zion where she remained faithful until her health failed and she could no longer attend.

Valerie attended and graduated from E.A. Kemp High School in 1954. While she was in

high school, she participated as a majorette. She continued her education and became a licensed

beautician. She was a member of Texas Cosmetologist and Licensed Cosmetologist.

Valerie enjoyed cooking and talking with her friends, she enjoyed baking cakes and her peanut

brittle for her family and friends.

Valerie was preceded in death by her husband: Donald Martin, her parents Earnest Jacksons Sr.

and Minerva Cavitt McGee, her son Wayne T. Chatman, her grandson Shun Martin, Jr. ,her sister,

Rachel Jackson Tramble, and her brothers Earnest Jackson, Jr., Joe Solomon, Ervin Amos Jackson

and Simmuel Jackson.

Valerie leaves her precious memories; her three sons Donald(Susan) from College Station, Texas,

Gary (Crystal) of Bryan, Texas, and Shun Martin, Sr. of Bryan, Texas, two daughters; Charlotte

Jones (Curtis) of Bryan, Texas, and Lolita Wilson of Garland, Texas; Eleven Grandchildren’ Cory

Jones, Curron Jones, Terrence Curtis, Alexandria Wilson, Chrysta Cooper, Taylor Caldwell, Nishea

Harris, Quinte Williams, Baylen Mitchell, Tiara Martin, and Daebreon Martin; Eighteen great

grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; her special friends Pamela Martel, and Minerva

Hill; her best friend Shirley Lewis Turner; a daughter-in-law, Barbara Cartwright; and a host of

nieces and nephews and other family members and friends.

Funeral Services: Friday, November 29, 2024 @ 11:00 a.m at New Zion Missionary Baptist Church Bryan, Texas 77803.

Visitation Services: Wednesday, November  27,2024 from 11:00a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
