James Arthur graduated from E.A. Kemp High School in 1954, and proudly attended Prairie View A&M University.

He was united in holy matrimony in 1957 with Lorraine Coleman and from this union, three children were born: James Edward, Carolyn, and Jacquelyn. James Arthur worked for the USDA for 30 years as a Lab Technician before retiring in 1993. He loved his job and his coworkers. James Arthur loved spending time with his siblings and others laughing, talking, and telling Tall Tales. He had the funniest stories and people loved to hear them. He also loved his music and playing his boom box.

James Arthur left his earthly space Saturday, March 15, 2025. After a very productive long blessed life, he has gone on to reunite with his father, mother, brothers, Howard, A.J., and Milton, and his son, Edward, who all preceded him in death.

James Arthur leaves to cherish: his daughters, Carolyn (Anthony) and Jacquelyn; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Gladys Smith and Gwendolyn Elder (Derek); one brother, Lyndon Thomas (Dionne); and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
