Emma Lee Sterling was born on June 07, 1947 to Geneva Miller and Frank Driver. She accepted Christ at an early age. She was a dedicated member of St. Peters Baptist Church in Hempstead, Texas, under the Pastorialship of Reverend Wooten. She was active in the choir, mission, and usher board. Emma graduated from Sam Schwartz High School and later all ended Prairie View A®M Universily. She worked as a secretary under the direction of Dr. H.G. Hendricks in the Department of Teacher Education and Certification. While working at Prairic View AM University, she met the love of her life, Charles L. Sterling.

After Emma relocated to Bryan, Texas, she became a member of Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church, where she was an active and faithful member until her health began to fail her.
Emma was a deaconess, mission sister, later becoming Mission Vice President for four years and later took the lead to become Mission President for two and a half years. Emma was active with the Central District Association Mission and Congress meetings.

After Emma’s completed her LVN training at Blinn Junior College, she was employed by St. Joseph Hospital in the ER department. She later utilized her skills at Leisure Lodge Nursing Home in Caldwell, Texas, for many years. She became a traveling and private-duty nurse, but before she retired, she worked at Sherwood Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, where she retired in 2006. She spent the remaining of her life spending quality time with family, cooking, playing cards and dominoes.
Emma is preceded in death by her parents; Geneva Miller and Frank Driver, her bonus parents; Walter Riley and Loraine Manning; her husband, Charles L. Sterling, two grandsons; Kevie J. Richards and Brandon Sterling, one son, Ennis Sterling, one bonus sister, Clara Dove; four brothers-In-law; six sisters-in-law. Emma leaves to cherish her memory, two sons, Bertrad Ray Bootye’-Jackson of Forney, Texas and Charles “Chuckie” Sterling (Tonya) of Houston Texas; three daughters, Sherrilynn Richards-Briscoe (Troy), LaTreva Sterling-Collins, both of Bryan, Texas and Taneka Sterling-Johnson of San Antonio, Texas; one brother Wardell White (Fannie) of Hempstead, Texas; grandchildren Keith Richards Jr. Timothy Dixon It: Henry Johnson, Dennisia Emery, Temisia Curley, Tempesu Bootye, Jasmine Thomas, Alondra Bootye, Joshua Boolye’,
Indigo Sterling, Trinity Sterling, Le’Cabiean Sterling, Jamarius Guillotle, Sterling Thrash, and Kayden Love; ten greal-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Her special friends “The Golden Girls”, Mary Eddington, Marie Shivers, Francis Whiting, Lynn Sterling, Linda Holland, Patsy King, Barbara Roy, Mary Lee Watson, Freddie Dove Scott, Patricia Solomon, Lucille Renfro and Tina Humphrey; and a host of other relatives and friends.
