Delilah Young Moore was born on August 30, 1941, in Mumford, Texas, to Ida Mae Young and David Young. At an early age, she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and became a member of Saviors Temple Church. She attended school in Hearne and graduated from Hearne High School. Delilah was employed at Aleco and Redmond Industries in Bryan, Texas where she dedicated 36 years before retiring. Her co-workers spoke highly of her, as she considered them family.
Delilah was known for her kind heart. She never met a stranger and enjoyed meeting and talking with people wherever she went. As the eldest daughter in her family, Delilah learned at an early age how to sew and cook, helping her parents care for her younger siblings. This nurturing spirit remained with her throughout her life. She had a deep love for growing plants and gardening and was blessed with a “green thumb.” She found great joy in replanting seedlings and generously sharing her plants with others. Affectionately known as “Sister,” a nickname given to her by her
brother, Charles Langston, Delilah will be remembered for her loving kindness toward her children, grandchildren, and great- grandchildren.
She was devoted to her family and took great pride in staying connected, often calling to check on her loved ones daily. As the matriarch of the family, she embraced her role with grace and
dedication, believing it to be a calling from God. On Wednesday, March 11, 2026, Delilah peacefully departed this life at St. Joseph Hospital in Bryan, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ida Mae Young and David Young; her son, Peter Moore; her brother, Charles Langston; and her sisters, Nettie B. Love, Onie Mae Lyons, and Ida Benford. Delilah leaves to cherish her loving memory her sons, Aaron Moore (Michelle), Gary Moore, George Moore III, Christopher Moore (Sher), Eric Moore, and Timothy Moore; her daughters, Sandra Moore and Shirley Moore Hodges; and her siblings, Erma Jones, Willie Young (Barbara), Clara Carter (Willie), Dianne Daniels (James) all of Houston, Artemia Humphrey (Robert) of Bryan, mealie Shepherd of Houston, and Betty Davis of Bryan.
