Obituary
Maria Antoinette Williams was born November 24, 1957, in Detroit, Michigan to Janice Bertha Williams and Henry Williams. She was the third child born of five children. Maria was the little sister of two big brothers and the big sister of two younger sisters. Maria passed away in her home on October 30, 2021.Maria grew up on the east side of Detroit, graduating from Kettering High School in 1975. She continued her studies being the first in her family to go to college. She graduated with a degree in Business Administration from Detroit Institute of Technology while working as a teller at National Bank of Detroit.Maria accepted Christ at an early age as a member of Gospel Chapel Church in Detroit. She enjoyed singing in the choir at various churches, also with her sisters and cousins. While in Houston, Texas she joined The Father’s House where Pastor Gary Higgins pastored. Maria was a high spirited individual, sociable, feisty and candid. She loved her family members and long-time close friends. Maria also enjoyed helping others. Her straight forward sassy personality will be missed and cherished by her family and those who loved her.She was proceeded in death by both her parents and her brother Matthew Williams (Larry).Maria’s memories will be cherished by her loving and devoted daughter, April Brown, who was the highlight of her life; her brother, Lester Williams (Beverly); her sisters, Elaine Williams and Denise Sherman;her nieces and nephews, Darrin Williams(Nicole), Mylana Williams, Salondra Sherman, Devin Buntin-Sherman, Jasmin Sherman and Robert Sherman, II; and a host of greats, aunts, cousins and friends.The family extends a special thanks and appreciation to everyone for their love to Maria and for their love to us on her behalf.
