Obituary

Mavis Lavonne Harris Hall, age 65; entered into eternal rest, on September 25, 2021. She was born June 5, 1956, in Bryan, Texas, to Espanola P. Lewis, which preceded her in death. At an early age, Mavis confessed a hope in Christ and united with Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Bryan, Texas.She was an active and dedicated member supporting the ministries of the church. She later became a dedicated member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Bryan, Texas. Mavis graduated from Carver Elementary, Neal Jr. High School, and Bryan High School Class of 1974. Mavis also graduated from Prairie View A&M University with a BS degree in Computer Science. While attending Prairie View A&M University she pledged Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc.and became a member. Mavis married Edward Lee Harris and to that union one son was born Evan L. Harris of Bryan. Later years Mavis met and married William Hall.Both husbands preceded her in death. Mavis worked for General Dynamics Fort Worth, Texas and the State of Illinois in Springfield, Illinois. Mavis taught at Bryan High in Bryan, Texas where she later retired. Mavis was preceded in death by three brothers, Clinton Lewis Jr., James Lewis Sr., and Robert Lewis Sr. Mavis leaves to cherish precious memories; a son, Evan Harris; three grandchildren: Layla Harris (Jennifer Turner mother), Cambrie Harris, Evan Harris,Jr. (QonTaviya Erving mother); sister, Pastor Mavis E. Goosby, Fort Worth, Texas; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives, friends, and special friends.
