INEZ BROOKS GREEN was born on April 12, 1939, to the late Lurea and Wiley Brooks in Leon County, Texas. She departed this life on November 5, 2025. During her 86 years of life on this earth, Inez faced many ups and downs, as we all do, but come what may, she never lost faith and always trusted in the Lord God. Inez met and married Ural Lester “Billy” Green, and they began their family legacy. Together, they raised their children in the fear and admonition of God. They taught them to accept, believe, and confess the Lord Jesus Christ; to trust, obey, and lean only upon Him.
Mama Inez mothered everyone she encountered. She was always ready and willing to give a word of advice and encouragement to all in her own special way.
She was quite the confidant! You could discuss anything with her and trust that you would
not hear it again. This characteristic led her to adopt many spiritual sons and daughters. Mama Inez likewise strived to love everyone she met. She truly lived out Matthew 22:36-40 which tells us “thou shalt love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind and love your neighbor as yourself”. Taking this to heart, she purposely treated others as she desired to be treated.
Prior to departing this life, Inez bore the sorrow of the passing of both her mother and father; her
brothers, Riley and Rivas Brooks; her loving sisters, Ezell Washington, Mozell Lewis, Mary Johnson and Joann Hall-Smith; three precious great-grandchildren, Dylan Lathan Cooks, Skyler Jerrell Green, and Logan Amir Lee. Mother Inez was a faithful, loving member of New Zion Missionary Baptist Church for many, many years. She worked in several areas within the church until she was no longer able to do so physically.
Inez “Nezzie” was employed with Omar Smith Enterprises (Karen and Terry Smith) for 43 years until she retired in 2024. Through employment and a shared faith in God, she and the Smiths became ex- extended family and lifelong friends. Left to treasure loving memories and carry on the Brooks/Green legacy are her Children: Herman (Darrilyn), Deloris “Dee Dee” (Darren, Sr.), Mary (Artis, Jr.), Archie and Carolyn “Misee”; Bonus daughters: Wendy (Jade, Sr.), Wanda, and Catrina (Joe); Bonus sons: Oliver, Lorenza, III “Skeeter”, Leonard, and Tyrone. Grandchildren: Thomas, Melissa, Darren “DJ”, Jr., Dustin, Sr. (Brittany), Danielle, Artis “Kyle”, Taurean, Kandi (Brion), Brandon, Timothy (Shana), Labrianna, Jade, Jr., and Kiara; thirty great-grandchildren; two greats, great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
My prayers will forever be with this family. Dustin Sr. You already know that I’m not even a txt away even when you don’t tell me everything that goes into a recipe. 2 Corinthians 5 : 6-8 Therefore we are always confident, knowing that whilst wee are at home in the body, wee are absent from the Lord. (For we walk by faith, not by sight.) We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord. Know that he (GOD) makes no mistakes he will cover you through.
