Ocie Mae Harris Walker began her journey August 3, 1924, through the parentage of Odessa Blue and Manuel Harris. Ocie was born in Hearne, Texas but lived in College Station, until her demise.
Ocie attended Blackshear Independent School District and was an outstanding student, where she went beyond what was expected of her. She was an excellent in her studies.
Ocie accepted Christ at an early age and later in life became a member of St. Matthew Baptist Church, and maintained her Christian Walk and faith with our LORD and Saviour.
Ocie enjoyed fishing, being around children and all of her grandchildren, great and great-great grandchildren, telling them stories about life and how to live their life like a young lady all way to a womanhood. Ocie loved ones that have preceded her in death are her parents, Odessa Blue and Manuel Harris; her husband, Joe Dell Walker; one son, Andrew Phoenix; her daughter, Lorraine Ramsey; one sister, Lula Belle Ward; one son-in-law, Johnny Payton, Sr.; her two best and special friends, Mary Watson and Anna Smith.
Ocie leaves to cherish ber memories are two daughters; Betty Jean Payton, and Mary Barden (Charles Barden); one daughter-in-law; Terrie Phoenix; 17 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, 35 great-great-grandchildren, 12 great-great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
