Charles Ray Dove was born September 29, 1948, to Jospeh and Elizabeth Dove. He was the seventh of fourteen children. Charles was raised in a Christian home. He graduated from E.A, Kemp High School in 1968. He soon moved to Houston, where he drove trucks for Mayflower. He returned to Bryan to further education and became a Respiratory Therapist for 30 years. Charles later started driving trucks for Ryder. He met and married his love, Clara Shivers on May 23, 1980. They were married 44 years.
Charles joined Mt. Nebo Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor C.L. King, where he was in the church choir. Charles enjoyed watching westerns, football, especially the Dallas Cowboys and watching wrestling and most of all he enjoyed being around family. Charles is preceded in death by his wife, Clara Shivers Dove parents, Joseph Dove Sr. and Elizabeth Dove; six sisters, Lillie Dove, Margaret Lewis, Elizabeth Dove, Sylvia Gordon, Barbara Young, Dorothy Philips; father and mother in law, Finon Shivers Sr, and Genice Shivers; two brothers, Sylvester Dove Sr, and Joseph Dove Jr, two brothers in law, Finon Jr, and Clinton Lewis Jr,
He leaves to cherish one son, Terrance Bookman of Bryan; two daughters, Kimberly Dove of Wichita Falls and Nikki Carter of Houston; 4 sisters, Maggie Williams of Dallas, Beulah Graham of Cypress, Freddie Scott (Oliver) of Texas City, Tracy Thomas (Brent) of Pflugerville; one brother, Jessie Dove (Sharon) of Manvel; 4 sisters in law, 6 brothers-in-law; 9 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. He also leaves his special dog, Sara and his two best friends, Steve Slate and Earl Workman.
