Michael Steven Smith was born on January 30,1957 in Bryan, Texas to Mattie Lee and Willie Robert Smith Sr. He was the baby boy born to their union. Michael confessed his life to Christ at an early age as a member of Galilee Baptist Church in Bryan, Texas.
Michael attended and graduated from Bryan High School. Following graduation Micheal joined the workforce as a truck driver. He held positions with LM Powell Enterprises LLC, Young Brothers Construction, Sanderson Farms and Knife River until his health forced him into retirement.
Michael met Eugenia in 1987. They resided in Somerville, Texas where they raised their children and watched their grandchildren grow.
Michael spent his retirement years enjoying his grandchildren, especially Toot, attending the grandchildren’s various sporting events, fishing, attending drag car races, hanging out with family and friends, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his precious pup Cocoa.
Micheal and Eugenia recently celebrated 38 years of loving one another. She remained by his side until his passing. Michael entered the Heavenly realm on the early morning of June 16, 2025. He is preceded in death by his parents, Mattie and Willie Smith, Sr.; sister, Ruby Jewel Smith; brothers, Willie Smith Jr., Arthur Smith, and Herman Smith, Sr.
Michael leaves to cherish his memories, his loving wife Eugenia Powell Smith of Somerville, Texas; his sister, Shirley White of Oakland, California; his sons, Cedric Nebelett (Lateria Nebelett) of Pearland, Texas, Lazerous Taylor of Bryan, Texas, and Akeem Powell of Somerville, Texas; his daughters Khadijah Smith and LaTonya Duncan (Prince Duncan) of Houston, Texas, Shereakia Wise of Dallas, Texas, Mar’Kesha Powell and Jessica Hawkins of Somerville, Texas; 27 grandchildren along with a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
