Obituary

Annie Jones, the fifth of ten children, was born on September 9, 1929, to the late Rufus Jones, Sr., and Mable Powell Jones. She and her siblings were raised near Caldwell, Texas in a small community named Shiloh.

Rufus Sr. was a Sunday school teacher. Bible study and prayer were
strongly encouraged by her parents. Annie’s study of the Bible led her to
be baptized in July 1961 by the late John Tillman, Sr. at the Fifth Ward Church of Christ.

Annie enjoyed travelling and enjoyed attending many conferences and lectureships sponsored by the Church of Christ. As a result, she made lifelong friends who lived all over the country.
In 1967, she began to work for Daniel and Beverly Arnold. This relationship grew past Annie being considered an employee, and she became a part of the Arnold family. Even though Annie was not blessed with biological children, Alice, Susan, and Steven Arnold were children
she had always dreamed of. She was there to share in all the family
events, from weddings to “grandchildren” and even the passing of
Daniel and Beverly. Retiring on May 19, 2002, Annie remained under
the care of Kevin and Nancy Butler and the Arnold family until she
passed.

Annie was the ultimate hostess and loved to celebrate her birthday and
Christmas. She held many parties at her house and her home was
always a Christmas showcase. Annie was also a great cook, making
delicious cakes and Chocolate chip cookies.
Annie loved her family and was integral in organizing the Jones Family
reunions. She always made sure she invited her friends to fellowship
with her family.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her goddaughter, Sheri Umanah
(Sunday), brother Jeremiah (Pauline) of El Paso, Texas; sisters, Mable
Rivers of Austin, Texas, and Ruby (James) Johnson of Georgetown,
Texas; the Arnolds’ children, Alice (Randy) Helms, Susan (Tom) Martin,
Steven; grandson, Jon Mallum Stevenson; and a host of nieces,
nephews and church family and friends.
